Welcome to M. Parker Insurance Agency!
In 1950, Betty & Jimmy Vaughn entered the insurance business by starting an agency known as Vaughn Insurance here in Dixon. For a number of years the agency was located at it’s current location at 24 Riddle Street on the Courthouse Square in Dixon. In 1967, they moved the agency across the street but within a rock’s throw of the current location and the building was used as an Army Recruitment Center. After the war died down, the Vaughn’s decided to move the agency back across the street to it’s current location of 24 Riddle Street.
Around 1975, the Vaughn’s retired and sold the agency to two locals, James Pollard and Paul Gardner who changed the name to the Gardner Polley Insurance Agency again located at 24 Riddle Street on the courthouse square in Dixon. With a small, hometown, friendly atmosphere, the agency thrived and concentrated on mostly personal lines and life insurance, although they also wrote farm accounts.
After the passing of James Polley and the retirement of Paul Gardner, the agency was sold to local resident and insurance agent Marcey Parker in 2007. Marcey has been in the insurance business since 1982 and was the fit perfect. With Marcey’s drive and hard work, she was able to grow the agency in the first year of ownership to be able to pay off the agency sooner than anticipated and she changed the name to it’s current name M Parker Insurance LLC. In May 2010, she was approached by the Maverick Insurance Agency, which had a satellite office in Providence, to acquire her agency in Dixon and go to work for them and manage both agencies. Since Marcey had just purchased her dream job of small business ownership that was not an option for her so she turned the tables on them & offered to purchase the satellite office of Maverick Insurance, which they accepted. Then in December of 2010, Marcey was approached by Auto-Owners Insurance Company to see if she would be interested in purchasing the Auto-Owners book of business from the retired Barron Insurance Agency in Madisonville. The other agency in Madisonville who purchased the bulk of the Barron book of business was not a good fit for the Auto-Owners Company, therefore Marcey accepted their offer and acquired the Auto-Owners book of business in December 2010.
Marcey has kept a great deal of the vintage 1950’s furnishings that were in the original office to this day and has not changed much at all about the appearance of the outside or inside of the office. With Marcey and her staff, Western Kentucky has some of the hardest working, most dependable staff and companies ready at their fingertips to earn your business. They still take payments in the office which a lot of the larger agencies do not allow, but they also have some of the industries most modern paperless computerized equipment to do business strictly over the phone or via the internet if you like that approach of doing business as well.
